How do I order?

There are a couple of ways you can order, if you see something in the galleries that you like, you can check my Etsy shop to directly order from there, remember you can always make changes to existing designs as everything is made to order and I want to make your topper special for you! If you have an idea for a topper that you want you can send me your idea! Just go to the Contact Form and I’ll get back to you with details and pricing.

Do you take commissions?

Absolutely! That is what custom cake toppers are all about. You can look at my Cake Topper Gallery for some ideas to inspire your own cake topper. When you are ready for something that is completely you, email me from the Contact Me Page.

What is the process for ordering a custom topper?

When it comes to ordering a custom topper, after we have discussed your ideas and prices, what I normally do is get a deposit, which is a percentage of the total price, this goes towards the price. After the deposit is received I will draw up a sketch for your approval. Once approved I create the topper and then send pictures of your finished topper. When you are 100% happy then final payment is due. Once it is paid I will ship your topper :)

If I place an order can I make changes to one of your existing designs for my event?

For sure, just email me from the Contact Me Page and let me know which design you are referring to. You can see the name of the design by placing your mouse over the image, a pop up will show you the name.

How far in advance do I need to order to get a topper?

Toppers can take 4 to 6 weeks to make, depending on the difficulty of the topper and how many other orders I have on the go. Keep in mind shipping time, the further away you are, the longer it will take to get to you. The earlier you can place your order the better. I know how stressful wedding/event planning can be, so I know you want your topper to be there well before your special day. As an average I recommend ordering 3 months in advance. Please let me know if you need to get this in a rush and I will see what I can do.

What kind of payment do you take?

I can accept PayPal for all orders, e-transfer if you’re in Canada, and if you’d like to pay with credit card I can set up a listing on my Etsy shop for you.

Where do you ship?

I ship all over the world! I can ship anywhere Canada Post or UPS can ship :) I have sent my toppers all over the USA, Belgium, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, Cyprus and many more places!

What are your cake toppers made of?

My cake toppers are made of polymer clay and sometimes mixed media, including semi precious stones, mica powder, acrylic paint, gloss, etc.

Are the toppers non-toxic/food safe?

Yes all the cake toppers are non-toxic/food safe. Polymer clay is a non-toxic substance made from polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Are your cake toppers edible?

No I’m sorry, even if you think they are tasty looking, I don’t recommend eating one, you’ll end up with a tummy ache!

What if I want my topper to be shiny?

I can make your topper shiny by using a gloss over it. Some toppers come with a gloss already or a matte finish, it’s usually chosen based on what looks best :)

How long will my cake topper last?

If you take care of your topper it should last forever, it will be a permanent keepsake of your special day. Rough handling or dropping your topper can damage it, put it somewhere safe, away from young hands. I also recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight so the colors don’t fade. And if you can keep it in a cabinet away from dust then that’s great, but not required.

How much do they weigh?

The weight of each topper depends on the size, material, detailing, thickness, etc. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to weight. My toppers are often 200g to 900g. If you think it might be too heavy there is an easy fix that you or your cake baker can do, simply add wood dowels to the inside of the cake under where the topper will go. Often one is enough, but you can always add more. Too much? You can always add skewers instead.

What kind of shipping do you offer?

I use CanadaPost as my default for shipping, however I also ship with UPS, don’t hesitate to ask for that option.

For CanadaPost prices vary based on size and weight, they include a tracking number and insurance against loss. Please contact me for a quote!

Do you make cupcake toppers?

I do! I can make a couple of small toppers for one or two of your cupcakes or a topper for every cupcake which makes a great keepsake that your guests can take home with them, perfect wedding favors. Some designs are too big to be turned into cupcake toppers, but feel free to discuss it with me and we’ll see what we can come up with!

What about duties and import fees?

Like any purchase that is imported there may be import or duties in your country. These charges are the responsibility of the buyer, I have no control over any of these fees. Please see your countries import laws for further information.

What is your refund policy?

Once work has started on a custom topper the deposit can not be refunded.

I take pride in my work and I want you to be completely satisfied. I package each topper as safely and securely as possible. While rare accidents and delays can happen during shipping which are out of my control. However, if your special topper is damaged in shipping, I will make arrangements with you to fix it, replace it, or refund in part or full, this will all depend on the situation. Take a picture of the topper, email it to me within 3 days of receiving, confirm with me and then ship the original back. If it’s something minor you can try a dab of super glue, which I’ll walk you through. Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.

If you have any problems with your order, please contact me, I know we can work out a solution.

How to Pick A Custom Cake Topper

Sometimes it’s hard to know what you want for a cake topper. What style should you get, what size, what kind, etc. I’m here to offer some advice on the matter. I believe the cake topper is one area in the wedding where you can let the couples personality show through, really reflecting who they are. It’s a great way to add humor to your wedding and have fun with it on an otherwise serious day. You can be serious, romantic, fun, cute, touching, anything you want!

Let’s start with size. Picking your size depends on how much presence you want the topper to have, if it is going to be the focus of your cake then make it big. The size should be based on how big the top tier of the cake is. If it’s a 6″ top layer, consider a max of 4″ wide for big presence. 2″ to 3″ will give you a nice size, for an overall balanced presence. 1″ wide, total, will probably be too small. If you want really subtle then it is a good way to go. Usually 1″ wide is a great size for cupcakes.

For an 8″ tier or bigger, consider having at least an inch on both sides available. I would recommend 2″ on each side. One other thing you should keep in mind is how heavy the topper will be, you don’t want it to crush your cake! But you can always have the cake reinforced with dowels to hold it up.

Decorations on the cake. Think about the overall design of your topper, do you have fall leaves or flowers decorating the other layers, would a nest with birds work at the top, surrounded by leaves. Do you want your topper to be on multiple levels? The possibilities are endless!

What style of topper do you want? You should really ask yourself what you want, that will determine the style you go for. If you want elegant and classy, then maybe a monogram is the right way to go, it could have glitz on it. If you want something cute and fun then maybe a clay topper is a good way to go, it makes a great keepsake and just about anything can be done.

Next question if you go with cute or fun, do you chose an animal, people or an inanimate object. You should just look at things you both love that that speaks to your personality.

If it’s a themed wedding, then maybe try a themed topper!

Want your topper to last a lifetime? You’re in the right place :)

If you want a snack or edible topper then go with one made from fondant.

What if you can’t find what your looking for? If you can’t find what you want or you want to make changes to an existing design, then ask the seller, I’m sure they will be happy to help you create your vision.

Hope that helps! Good luck in your search!
